Official BMW dealerships such as BMW Astra have seized this opportunity by offering pre-owned vehicles in top condition—often with warranties that rival those of new cars. This trend has provided reassurance for buyers and further fuelled demand.
Sanfrantis Tanu, Executive Chairman of BMW Astra, revealed that the second-hand BMW market in Indonesia is booming, largely driven by first-time BMW customers who prefer to start with a used vehicle before committing to a new one. “Many of our customers are experiencing BMW for the first time and feel more comfortable trying a used car before considering a new purchase. We’re making that journey as easy as possible for them,” Sanfrantis said in Jakarta.
He also highlighted that attractive offers and robust warranty packages have contributed to the growth of BMW Astra’s pre-owned business, giving customers greater confidence in their purchases. “Even though these are used cars, our warranties ensure buyers don’t need to worry. If any issues come up, we handle them,” he explained. Although Sanfrantis declined to provide detailed sales figures, he remains optimistic about continued success in a challenging market.
